CARE
Gold filled and sterling silver are tarnish resistant, there is less upkeep than gold plated and other costume jewellery to keep them looking fresh and beautiful. However, your Dear April jewels will benefit from the below care steps to last longer. Note that the gold plated jewels will need extra TLC (tender, love and care) to prolong the plating on your favourite pieces.
Important to mention that in general, jewellery wears different for every individual, there are many factors based on your pH levels, sweat acidity, oiliness and humidity that affects jewellery. When wearing your jewels every day, the jewellery comes in contact with the top layer of your skin, which often has a lot of dirt, grit, sweat, oil, and other chemicals. Thus, over time, your jewellery may look darker, or duller, and that is due to the many layers of dirt, chemicals, etc. that are transferred from the skin to your pieces.
To care for your jewellery, take care when in the below situations as they aggravate the tarnishing rate of any jewellery.
SPECIAL CARE INSTRUCTIONS FOR PEARLS
Note that if your jewellery piece contains any organic gemstones, such as pearls, we recommend to keep them away from water as much as possible, and avoid non-water substances such as soaps, detergent and perfumes; as over time this can dull your pearls.
STORE - Keep your jewellery in a dry, air tight space.
CLEAN - Although We use high quality metals that don't tarnish easily, all precious metals will tarnish over time with wear. Keep your jewellery looking brand new by cleaning that grime off your pieces with mildly sudsy water and dry with a non- scratching cloth. Polish using a jewellery polishing cloth for Gold Filled and Sterling silver only, please avoid using polishing cloth on gold plated jewellery, as the cloth will rub the plating. Use soft cloth instead.
AVOID - Try your best to not expose your jewellery to water or humidity (do not store jewellery in bathroom while showering). Remove jewellery before working out or sleeping and avoid storing your jewellery next to other metals or jewellery organisers that contain other base metals. All of these things will cause your jewellery to oxidise.
We hope this was helpful for you and answers some of your questions on how to take care of your Dear April jewels!
Please note that this is only a guide of how to take care of your jewels so they can last longer. In the event any of your pieces that are not cared for as per the above instructions and damaged pieces due to personal wear & tear are not covered in our Warranty Policy.
